All services are provided by Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) who have completed additional specialized training in medical foot care beyond their nursing degree. All nurses at Natural Skin & Sole Wellness are in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and have completed Vulnerable Sector Police Record Checks to ensure the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Medical foot care supports the health, comfort and function of the feet and lower limbs and may benefit individuals with:

• Diabetes or circulation concerns
• Thickened, fungal-appearing or difficult-to-trim nails
• Corns and calluses
• Dry, cracked or sensitive skin
• Reduced mobility or difficulty reaching or caring for the feet
• Foot discomfort, tenderness or pressure areas
• Age-related changes affecting the feet
• A history of foot problems requiring regular monitoring
• Difficulty safely trimming their own toenails
• A need for ongoing preventive foot care
• Seniors who would benefit from routine professional foot care
• Individuals who simply want to maintain healthy, comfortable feet

Yes. Medical foot care is especially important for individuals with diabetes. Our nurses focus on prevention, early identification of concerns, and maintaining skin and nail integrity.

Yes. All medical foot care services follow current Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards and professional nursing guidelines. We use sterilized instruments for your care. Instruments are either single-use and disposed of after treatment or professionally cleaned, reprocessed and sterilized at our clinic using medical-grade autoclaves in accordance with IPAC standards. Your safety and infection prevention are an essential part of every treatment we provide.

The frequency of visits depends on your individual needs. Many patients benefit from care every 6–8 weeks, while others may require a different schedule based on their foot health and risk factors.

A referral is not usually required for medical foot care services. Some facilities or private insurance care plans may require a prescription from your primary healthcare provider.

To ensure safe and effective care, we ask that a clean, safe, and accessible environment be prepared prior to the nurse’s arrival. This includes:

• A well-lit area with space for the nurse to work
• A stable chair or bed for the patient.
• Pets secured in another room during the visit
• No smoking or vaping during the appointment
• Clear, safe access to the home (including stairs and walkways)

These measures help protect both the patient and the nurse and allow care to be provided efficiently.

Yes. Accessible parking must be available for the nurse at or near the service location.
Any applicable parking fees are the responsibility of the patient or facility and are not absorbed by the nurse.

Nursing foot care services may be eligible for reimbursement through extended health insurance plans, depending on your individual policy and coverage for nursing services. Following your appointment, we will provide you with a detailed receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Because coverage varies between insurance companies and individual plans, we recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm whether nursing foot care provided by a nurse is covered under your plan and whether a referral or prescription is required.

Please note: Natural Skin & Sole Wellness Clinic cannot guarantee insurance reimbursement. Patients are responsible for confirming their individual coverage and eligibility directly with their insurance provider.
